Malaysia is considering introducing a 'Graduate Plus' visa for Bangladeshi students, a proposal that was discussed during Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus's meeting with the Malaysian Higher Education Minister. This initiative would allow Bangladeshi students to stay and work in Malaysia after graduation.
Current Situation
Currently, approximately 10,000 Bangladeshi students are studying in Malaysia. The proposed visa would provide them with opportunities to gain work experience and potentially settle in Malaysia after completing their studies.
Dhaka's Requests
During the meeting, Dhaka requested several improvements including recognition of Bangladeshi degrees, expanded scholarship opportunities, and stronger student and faculty exchange programs between the two countries.
This potential visa program represents a significant opportunity for Bangladeshi students to not only study in Malaysia but also build their careers there, making Malaysia an increasingly attractive destination for higher education.
